June is the start of Summer and FamilyFunPittsburgh has the Best Things to Do with Kids!

The Dollar Bank Three Rivers Arts Festival opens on June 1st and runs through June 10th in Point State Park, Gateway Center, and the Cultural District downtown. This perennial FamilyFun favorite has something for everyone. There are the Giant Eagle Creativity Zones with hands-on activities and demonstrations for children and teens. The Food Court at Gateway Center, the Food Court at Point State Park, and the Food Truck Vendor station has food for any taste and age. There is on-stage entertainment daily. Of course it is an Art Show with open galleries and art installations scattered throughout the Festival. The Artists Market returns with an eclectic offering from artists around the world. The Dollar Bank Three Rivers Arts Festival is open from 1200PM-800Pm daily with some areas having limited or special hours. The Arts Festival is outside and is notoriously rainy so be prepared for the weather. Look for our Quick Guide coming soon.

Autism Awareness Night at the Washington Wild Things is June 5th. Watch as the Wild Things take on the Traverse City Beach Bums with a special needs night. There will be reduced noise levels, quiet areas, and activities for families with an autistic child. Check out our Calendar for more details.

The Citiparks Pools open on June 11th. With eighteen pools scattered around the city, there is a place to swim for everyone. Pools are open from Monday through Friday 100PM – 745PM. Open swim is 145PM – 445PM. Family swim is 445PM-745PM. Pool hours on Saturday and Sunday are 100pm- 545pm. Pool passes are available for city residents or you can pay a daily admission fee. Children must be supervised by an adult and there are more rules and regulations. Check out our Summer Swim Guides coming soon!

Join Venture Outdoors for a Tyke Hike at Riverview Park on June 13th from 1000Am – 1130AM. Take a walk with your little ones on a 1-2 mile stroller-friendly hike. Venture Outdoors schedules Tyke Hikes throughout the month at various parks throughout the region. Check out our Calendar for more information.

June 14th is Flag Day.

June 17th is Father’s Day. Kennywood Park has a Comicon Event and Father’s Day Celebration. The Pittsburgh Zoo also has Father’s Day events.

PBS’ Peg +Cat come to Idlewild! Idlewild Park & Soak Zone hosts daily meet and greets with Peg + Cat from June 18th through June 22nd. Visit America’s Favorite Children’s Park for a day of fun rides, cool slides, and delicious food plus Storybook Forest and Jumpin’ Jungle. Check out our Calendar for more information.

Kennywood Park has their annual KidsFest June 28th and 29th with costumed characters, meet and greets, craft vendors, and child-friendly activities, Kidsfest is a great time for families! Of course you also have all of Kennywood to enjoy with over 40 rides and attractions, tasty food and Potato Patch French Fries. Kennywood is a FamilyFunPittsburgh favorite.
