Let’s Go Swimming! – Find a Pool Near You

There are a lot of places to go swimming in and around Pittsburgh. FamilyFunPittsburgh covers most of them. If you are looking for a place to dip your toes in the water, or learn to swim, or splash around for a day, we have the place for you.

City Pools

The City of Pittsburgh has eighteen public pools for residents and non-residents. These neighborhood pools are classic pools with a shallow end and a deep end. Many pools offer swim classes for children 18 months through adult. Pool passes are available. Pools are open daily. Open Swim is from 100-445PM Mondays through Fridays followed by Family Swim from 445-745PM. Pools are open Saturdays and Sundays from 100-545PM. Lifeguards are on duty.

The Pittsburgh Pools open on June 12 through Labor Day. Hours may be limited due to weather or staffing shortages.

Pools to the North of Pittsburgh

The Avonworth Pool

The Avonworth Pool is a classic community pool. The l-shaped pool has a shallow end, a deep end with a diving board and a spiral slide. There is a separate baby pool. The pool has changing rooms and a concession stand.

The Pool opens on May 25th and closes on Labor Day. Summer hours are 1130AM-700PM daily with limited hours at the start and the end of the season.

The North Park Pool

The North Park Pool is a large FamilyFun pool with a four foot deep swim area, a shallow area, a waterfall mushroom, a spiral slide, a spray park, and an inflatable obstacle course. There are changing rooms, a concession stand, and a playground nearby.

The Pool is open from June 1st through September 2nd with limited hours at the end of the season. The Pool is open daily 1130AM-700PM weather permitting.

The Cranberry Township Waterpark and Pool

The Cranberry Township Pool complex is a FamilyFun destination. here is a spray pad for the little set, a pool with a Tipping Bucket and a Waterslide for the bigger kids, and a deep end with a diving board and a Climbing Wall for the older crowd. They also have a sand play area and a sand volleyball court. The Waterpark has changing rooms and a concession stand.

The Pool and Waterpark open on Memorial Day and close on Labor Day. The Pool is open from 1130AM-800PM daily with limited hours at the end of the season and weather permitting.

The Hampton Community Pool

The Hampton Township Community Pool is a large FamilyFun pool with a zero-entry spray area, a large swimming pool with adult lap lanes, diving boards, two tube slides, and a spiral slide. There is bench seating around the concrete pool deck, shade tents, and a large grassy area for blankets. There is a snack bar and parking and changing rooms.

Pools to the West of Pittsburgh

The Settler’s Cabin Wave Pool

the Settlers Cabin Wave Pool is a great place to ride the waves or just cool off. The Pool is zero entry. Waves run in cycles with time in between the cycles when the water is calm. The large Pool is surrounded by artificial turf “grass”. There is a concession area. The Pool can get very crowded on busy days.

The Settler’s Cabin Park Wave Pool will be open June 1st through September 2nd with limited hours near the end of the season.

The Settler’s Cabin Wave Pool is open daily from 1130AM-730PM weather permitting. If the Pool hasn’t opened by 200PM then it will not open that day. .

The Clever Park Pool

The Clever Park Pool is in Robinson Township. The Pool has a zero entry shallow end with water features, an open pool that goes to five feet deep with a water slide, and a deep end that is up to 13 feet deep with diving boards. The Pool is kept at 78-80 degrees. There are shade umbrellas scattered around the pool deck. There are changing rooms and a concession stand.

The Pool is open Monday through Saturday from 100AM – 700PM and Sundays from 1200PM – 700PM weather permitting. There is a Christmas in July Pool Party on July 14th 1200PM -700PM. The Pool closes at 400PM on May 27, June 8, July 4, and September 2.

The Wilson Park Pool

The Wilson Park Pool is located in Greentree just off the Parkway West. The Pool is a traditional community pool. There is a large pool with a tube slide, lap lanes and a diving board and a kiddie pool. The pool has a concession stand and changing rooms.

The Wilson Park Pool is open through September 2. Pool hours Weekdays through June 6th are 400-800PM, Weekdays from June 7th are 1200PM-800PM daily weather permitting. On weekdays between August 19-30, the Pool is open from 400PM-800PM. It is open from 1200PM -800PM on weekends.

The Crafton Pool

The Crafton Pool is a community pool in the heart of Crafton. There are two pools, one a traditional community pool with a shallow end and a deeper end. They also have a large spiral water slide. The shallow end has a waterfall mushroom. The Pool also has a splash pad with water features and a small slide. They have changing rooms and a concession stand. The Pool deck is surrounded by a grassy area and there are a few large shade umbrellas.

The Pool is open for regular operating hours from June 4th through July 31st on Monday through Saturday from 1200PM – 800PM and Sunday from 100PM – 700PM. From August 1- August 25 the Pool is open Mondays through Saturdays from 1200PM – 700PM and Sundays from 100PM – 700PM. There is a late season schedule August 26 – August 30. Check with the Pool for operational hours. The Pool is open May 25 from 1200-800PM, May 26 and 27 1200PM -700PM and May 28 -30 with limited hours. The Pool is open August 31 from 1200-800PM and September 1st and 2nd from 1200-700PM.

Pools to the East of Pittsburgh

The Boyce Park Wave Pool

The Boyce Park Wave Pool is a large wave pool nestled into the rolling hills of Boyce Park near Monroeville. Boyce Park Wave Pool is a great place to ride the waves or to just cool off. The Pool is zero entry. Waves run in cycles with time in between the cycles when the water is calm. The large Pool is surrounded by artificial turf “grass”. There is a concession area and free parking. The Pool can get very crowded on busy days.

The Boyce Park Wave Pool season suns June 1st through September 2nd. It is open daily from 1130AM-730PM weather permitting. If the Pool hasn’t opened by 200PM then it will not open that day. There may be reduced hours/availability toward the end of the season.

The Heritage Hill Pool

The Heritage Hill Pool is the community pool for White Oak Township. It is a large community pool with a shallow end and a deep end with a diving board. There are changing rooms and a concession stand. The pool deck is surrounded by a grassy area.

The Heritage Hill Pool is open daily from 1100AM – 700PM weather permitting. Hours may vary towards the end of the season. There are daily adult swim times posted at the Pool.

The Bel-Aire Community Pool

The Bel-Aire Community Pool is in Monroeville. It is a traditional community pool with a shallow end and a deep end with a diving board. There is a kiddie pool with a waterfall mushroom. There are shaded picnic groves, a volleyball court, basketball courts, changing rooms, and a concession stand.

The Bel-Aire Pool opens on May 25th – May 31st with limited hours and then daily on June 1st through August 18th. The Pool has limited hours August 19th through its September 2nd close.

The Pool is open daily 1230PM – 700PM through August 19th weather permitting.

Pools to the South of Pittsburgh

The Dormont Pool

The Dormont Pool is a South Hills staple. The large pool located in the heart of Dormont has zero depth entry on two sides, a slide, a waterfall mushroom, and a Ducky Kiddie slide. There is a snack bar and free parking. (The Parking can fill up early on busier days.) The Pool is surrounded by the greenery of the Dormont Park. 

The Dormont Pool is open daily June 8th through August 19th from 1200PM-800PM. (Fourth of July hours are 1200PM-600PM.) From May 25th through June 7th the Pool is open Weekdays from 400-800PM and Weekends from 1200-800PM. The Pool is open from 400PM-800PM August 19th through Labor Day on Weekdays and 1200-800PM on Weekends. The Pool is open 1200PM-300PM on Labor Day. Pool hours may vary due to weather.

The South Park Wave Pool

South Park has a large wave pool. Nestled in the hills of South Park, the South Park Wave Pool Is a fun day out for the family. The Pool is zero entry. Waves run in cycles with time in between the cycles when the water is calm. The large Pool is surrounded by artificial turf “grass”. There is a concession area. The Pool can get very crowded on busy days

The South Park Wave Pool is open daily from 1130AM-730PM weather permitting. If the Pool hasn’t opened by 200PM then it will not open that day. The last day for the Pool is September 2nd. There may be reduced hours/availability toward the end of the season.

The Mt. Lebanon Swim Center

The Mt Lebanon Swim Center is a FamilyFun heated pool with a zero entry area, spray features, two water slides, lap lanes, a deep end (12 feet) with a diving board and a rock climbing wall, and plenty of room for the whole family. The spray park is shallow and good for the younger crowd. Bigger kids will love the two water slides. Older kids (who are good swimmers, lifeguards have the right to require a swim test) can head over to the diving board and rock wall. 

The Pool is open from 1200PM -800PM for General Swim. Adult Swim times are 1100AM-1200PM daily and 815PM-915PM Monday through Thursday. The Pool is open through August 25th.

Upper St. Clair Aquatics Center

The Upper St Clair Aquatics Center is a sprawling indoor/outdoor complex with three pools, a “resistance channel”/lazy river, and an indoor lap pool.

The Outdoor Aquatics Facility is open from 1100AM-700PM May 25th through Labor Day. There are extended hours on Fridays 1100AM-700PM June 7-August 23.

Baldwin Pool

The Baldwin Pool is a traditional community pool in the South Hills of Pittsburgh. It recently underwent a two year renovation. The pool has a small slide, shaded areas around the pool deck, and changing rooms. 

The Baldwin Pool is open daily through September 2nd on weekdays from 1200PM – 800PM and weekends and holidays from 1200PM – 600PM.

Mineral Beach

Mineral Beach is a large pool with zero depth entry. The Beach has a spiral slide and two diving boards – one low and an incredibly rare higher diving board. Younger kids can splash around in the shallow end. The pool deck is surrounded by grass, perfect for spreading out a blanket.

Mineral Beach is open Monday through Friday from 1100AM-600PM and Saturdays and Sundays from 1100AM-700PM weather permitting.

The Whitehall Pool

The Whitehall Swimming Pool is another community pool in the South Hills area. USE IS RESTRICTED TO WHITEHALL RESIDENTS AND THEIR GUESTS ONLY!  It has a large swimming pool with a deep end and a diving board and a smaller shallow pool for little swimmers.

Waterparks

Sandcastle

Sandcastle Waterpark is Pittsburgh’s Waterpark located on the Monongahela River. Sandcastle has a wave pool, the Mushroom Pool, a lazy river, two play areas for smaller kids, and seven waterslides. The Boardwalk has food and concession stands. Sandcastle can get very crowded on hot days and on weekends.

Sandcastle is open daily from June 1st through August 18th and on weekends through Labor Day. Hours are 1100AM-600PM and 1100AM-500PM on August 31, September 1, and 2.

Regular admission tickets bought online are $32.99. Junior and Senior tickets are $22.99. 7 day advance purchase tickets are $26.99. Smart Day tickets are $19.99. Season Passes are available. Look for the FamilyFunPittsburgh article in June!

Idlewild Park and Soak Zone

Nestled in the Laurel Highlands, Idlewild Park and Soak is a traditional amusement park and a waterpark.

Soak Zone is at the far end of the Park. This large waterpark has a wave pool, body slides, tube slides, a lazy river, a kid’s slide and spray area (best for kids and tweens), and a little kids pool and play area. There are hot, crowded changing rooms and even hotter family changing rooms. There is also a gift shop that carries bathing suits, swim gear, and sunscreen. A small food stand offers pizza, burgers, and fries. Many people come to Idlewild to spend the day at SoakZone until it closes at 600PM and then head into the park to ride for the last two hours.

Admission to Idlewild includes admission to Soak Zone (when it is open). Buy tickets online for a discount off of gate prices. All prices are base rate plus taxes and fees. Online prices are: Adult Funday (3-59) $44.99, Senior Funday (60+) $28.99, Military Funday (with valid ID) $27.99, Late Day Funday (after 300PM for everyone 3+) $23.99, Seven Day Advanced Purchase (age 3-59) $40.99. A Family Four Pack Funday is $146.99. Kids 2 and under are FREE.

Gate prices are Adults (3-59) are $44.99 weekdays and $46.99 weekends. Senior Gate prices (60+) are $32.99.

Soak Zone is open daily from Memorial Day through August 18th from 1130AM to 600PM. Idlewild and Soak Zone can have limited operations near the end of summer and on some weekdays when certain rides, food stands, and games open late depending on staffing levels.
